Product Description

Just one spell. Problem solved. How hard can it be? A Rhiannon Godfrey story. Rhiannon Godfrey is a psychic prodigy, but her parents don't see things her way. They think she needs a "normal" high school experience-she wants to stay in trendy Vegas. In the small farming town of Crystal Lake, being Wiccan doesn't exactly help the Godfreys blend in.

Beyond angry, Rhiannon neglects to inform her parents the farmhouse they just bought is haunted. Instead, she decides to use the resident ghost to prove that she belongs back in Dr. Richards's Institute of Parapsychology. Not that dispelling ghosts is her area of expertise, but really, how hard can it be?

And then there's Jared Roberts. Totally hot. For a cowboy, that is. Only problem? He comes with an evil twin sister, the shallow and popular Janet. Janet's only goal is to make Rhee-s life miserable. So when she and her friends decide it's time for a little payback, Rhee goes to her mother's book of spells. Janet needs to be taught a lesson, and what harm can come from a few words?

Just one little spell.

Warning: Read at your own risk! Scary ghosts and magickal moments inside.

This book was offered free on the kinle. The theory is that a free look at an author's work will make fans and they will buy the next book. It works about 10% of the time (for me) and this is one of those times.

I am not the target audience for this book at all. I am far from being a "young" adult, and magic and psychic powers leave me cold. But the main character in this book lept out of the page as a real teen with real problems.

The theory, about giving away a book to get readers, worked. I will buy more of Ms Halls books.

Thanks for the free read

Like many of us, I downloaded the "free" book for my Kindle. When I started to read it, I was caught up immediately with the characters, the story line and the fun read. I even ordered the next two books before I finished the first one. They do not disappoint either. I am way past the Y/A age but think this is fun for all ages.

Love's Magic

A slow but careful reader, I live a book. I cry, I laugh, I feel it. Always having a propensity to learn about senses of the sixth in any capacity, I love when ancient ritual meets modern life.
This seemless, witty teen book is an exciting read. The mom's mindreading, the great kid lingo, make it entertaining and true to a teen's way of thinking. As I read, it connected me with thoughts of scenes from movies such as Mean Girls, Better Off Dead, and X-Men. Add in the main female character in the Casper movie, and bad guys(or in this case, girls) Crabbe and Goyle from the infamous Harry Potter flick and you will be cheering for Rhiannon Godfrey right through to the end.
I thouroughly enjoyed this book and am particularly glad that Traci Hall left enough ends up in the air for a sequel. I will be looking forward to it.

4 out of 5 stars Very appealing YA novel
3 people found this review helpful.
I don't know why I have started reading more YA novels recently, but I am impressed with the quality of many. This one did not disappoint. I gave it a try because it was free and now I am willingly going to pay to get the follow-up books. I thought it was well written and compelling.

It is about a girl who is moved to a new place where she is most definitely the outsider. Different religion (wiccan), different way of dressing, city girl in the country, and the popular girl hates her. It should be very cliche, but I came to really like the characters. I want to find out what happens to them.

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good

Like a lot of people, I got this book for free on my Kindle. It's a young adult novel, but well written and an enjoyable read. I liked the characters and the setting. The kids were portrayed pretty accurately, at least as far as teenagers can be.

The book wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly at the end for me, but other than that, I quite enjoyed it. A good, quick summer book.

An easy reader that is very entertaining. I am not the targeted reader however, I did still enjoy reading about Rhee and her adventures into her new house and new high school.

4 out of 5 stars Surprising - Traci Hall has created a great new bunch of characters.

This is first book I have read written by Traci Hall. I took a chance and downloaded this free kindle book and I have to say that I will seek out additional writings by Traci Hall. Including the 2 other Rhiannon Godfrey books in this series: Something Wiccan This Way Comes: A Rhiannon Godfrey Story and Wiccan Cool: A Rhiannon Godfrey Story.

Fourteen year-old Rhiannon (Rhee) Godfrey was being forced to move to Crystal Lake, Washington with her parents so her mother, Starla Godfrey, could open a New Age shop. She just wants to go back to the institute and be with her friends, Tanya and Matthew. She also was going to miss Dr. Richards and Mrs. Edwards - they were helping her deal with her psychic abilities. Instead she going to attending an actual high school and it freaked her out. Her mother and Father, Miles Godfrey, thought that she needed to be around normal people.

Rhee, a second-generation Wiccan, can see ghosts. However, she doesn't share the fact that the farmhouse they just moved into is haunted. Her attic bedroom was going to be her private hideaway, and now she was sharing it with a ghost - that's just great! The worst part is that the ghost, Suzanna, likes to hangout with Rhee. There was no way she was staying in the haunted farmhouse, well maybe~~ After her neighbor, Jared Roberts, the hot cowboy, brings over a cow - left by the family who moved from their farmhouse - she decides maybe she will be able to tolerate living here after all.

Rhee wants to be a Parapsychologist, like Dr. Richards, but first she had to survive high school. She meets Bonnie, Melody, Peter, and Corey on the first day of school; even if they are considered the loser club - it is still better than eating lunch alone. She also knows Jared but, his evil twin Janet is going to make her life hell. She cannot let what happened in Vegas with Maddie, to happen here with Janet - but she is unsure if she can control herself.

This is a typical unpopular girl entering high school; she has the same issues (1) the freaky-weird new kid in school, (2) crush on the hottest guy in school (Jared), (3) enemies with the popular crowd (Janet & her followers), and (4) sometimes uncontrollable psychic abilities. Rhee just wants to be left alone, but she will settle for payback - also she has a mystery to solve who is Suzanna and what does she want/need.

The plot is good and I will follow-up this read with the other 2 books. I recommend downloading this book; it would give you a free introduction to Traci Hall and the characters she created. You never know - it might hook you, like it hooked me.

5 out of 5 stars Great YA Book

I tried this book simply because it was free but was caught up in it very quickly. The characters seem real and like others have said, seem to have real problems that you get caught up in. You find yourself pulling for them and it brings back memories of high school. I really liked this book and will look for more by this author.

5 out of 5 stars For Teen and Adult Readers

I got this book as a Kindle freebie and didn't have many expectations. Now, I am looking for more books by this author. It started out with a bang and never got boring. The main character, a teen with special powers, lives in a truly haunted house. However, the fun in this book is watching this formerly home-schooled girl learn to fit in with regular kids at her school. I really liked their interactions and the rodeo. It's a fun book.

4 out of 5 stars Grandpa's Review
1 person found this review helpful.
I read a sample of this book and got hooked by the similarities of the character and my granddaughter, Iris. My daughters' family had recently moved from Oregon to Wisconsin. Iris had some of the same problems adjusting, without the magic. After reading and enjoying the book myself, I had to get a copy to send to her.
Very well written, fast, fun read!
